Overmolding is the process to inject two or more kinds plastic material together.it also named double injection mould ,double shots tooling,two shots mould. Overmolded parts include two types: hard plastic+hard plastic ; soft plastic+hard plastic,usually we mean soft plastic+hard plastic. overmolded parts apply functions like skin resistance,hand feeling,decorating and sealing .currently ,it is more and more demanded by market. Overmold includes two types: 1) make in two seperate moulds.when hard palstic part produced ,need manually fix the hard plastic part in other mould to finish soft plastic injection.this way is low requirements for technology and mould cost is cheap .but need much labor,and product apperance is not very beautiful,it is suitable for low volume production . 2) make in one mould. this way to make soft plastic part and hard plastic part in one mould.finished products raised in the same mould automatically.we usually call this way as a real overmold.it is popular now.I will share more information about this way in next article...
